about

These six tracks were recorded by the Brainiacs in the '70s but were omitted from the When Silence Was Sound CD for various reasons. Vegetable is a very early version that was released on the Mushy Doubt EP. It's more punky than the World Inside LP version that we included on WSWS.
Working is the version from the World Inside LP. We decided to include the 7" version on WSWS but the LP version is more polished and has its own charms.
Trotsky is also from the World Inside LP and is shorter and more precise than the Mushy Doubt version that was included on WSWS. Better or worse? - you decide!
I Warn You was issued on a compilation on Bevis Frond's Woronzow label in 1989. It was recorded in our rehearsal room in Crouch End in 1980. This song subsequently metamorphosed into (I'm The) Glue. Marilyn Monroe and Natty Punko are our first ever (rather primitive) recordings at Roche Studio in May1977. They was released on the Double Booked compilation in December 1977 - this was put together by The William IV, a pub we used to play at regularly in Truro.
That's all our '70s and '80s vinyl!
